Fueling our tamariki at Kaiapoi North School with BBQ lunch
30 September 2024In a heartwarming display of manaakitanga, Kā te Rama Switched On Group recently got involved hosting a special BBQ lunch for the tamariki of Kaiapoi North School. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities we serve and supporting local kura.
The idea for this event sparked during a recent Kamahi engagement hui, where our people discussed ways to contribute meaningfully to our community. We came up with a plan to provide a sausage sizzle for all 540 tamariki at Kaiapoi North School which is located in one of the areas we serve through our mahi with Kāinga Ora. We brought our BBQ trailer and a generous donation of sausages from our partners at Beard Brothers ready to feed lots of hungry kids before the end of school term.
At Kā te Rama Switched On Group, we believe in the importance of supporting education and nurturing our local communities. This BBQ event is just one way we're putting that belief into action. By providing a special lunch for the students, we hope to not only fill their puku but also show them that their community cares.
Our team are excited about the potential to make this a regular event, expanding to other schools in the communities we serve in the future. We're grateful for the opportunity to fire up the grill and work alongside Beard Brothers and Kaiapoi North School, for what was a day full of kai, fun, and community spirit.
Together, we're cooking up more than just sausages – we're fostering community connections and supporting the next generation.
