WelTec student site visit

Supporting our future industry experts

Our Wellington Switched On Building Solutions team have been doing some awesome
mahi with Whitireia and WelTec - Te Pūkenga students studying to become Quantity
Surveyors and Estimators.

As part of their course requirements, they need to gain practical experience on a live construction site and identify potential hazards and what better place to do this
than their own learning facility?

Our kaimahi were more than willing to share their expertise in the field and took
the students on a guided tour of the WelTec site they are currently working on.
Led by our Health and Safety Officer, Ben Horn, the students were provided
with the necessary safety equipment, including hard hats and high-visibility vests.

During the site visit, they had the chance to witness the role of a Health and Safety
Officer first-hand and learn effective methods for minimising and controlling hazards
once they have been identified.

The team found it incredibly rewarding to provide these students with a hands-on
experience and we're proud of them for supporting the growth and development of
aspiring professionals in our industry.
